  1. pick any Audio+G song
  2. duplicate it (⌘-D)
  3. Get Info on it
  4. put the word "scratch" into all 3 fields: Name, Artist, Album (that way you know this is your "scratch track"). Or you can name it whatever you want that you'll remember.
  5. go to the Advanced menu and pick "Producer". You are now editing a copy of that song. It still has graphics so you need to clear them out
  6. Press the Home key then the "I" key. This sets the In point for the orange time selection brackets to the start of the song
  7. Press the End key then the "O" key. This sets the Out point for the orange time selection brackets to the end of the song
  8. Hold the Option (alt) key when you press "Clear", this will clear all the existing graphics *without* preserving the color palette
  9. Press the Home key then the "I" key then the "O" key. This sets the In and Out points to the start of the song (to get them out of your way)
  10. Save (⌘-S)

Now you are ready to edit or create your show screens using this "scratch" timeline. (in this context, a showscreen is a template, a template is a showscreen)

To be able to quickly edit and view your showscreen, do these things:

  1. go to a blank moment in time on your scratch track
  2. click on the "Templates" button (Which is actually a menu), then
  3. To Create a NEW ShowScreen:
    1. choose Apply->"small text"
    2. click "Templates->Save As..."
    3. name it something like "My Screen" or whatever
  4. To edit an existing Showscreen:
    1. choose->Edit-> << pick the one you want to edit >>
  5. now click "Templates->Save Over..", but just look: see how the one you're editing has a check next to it? that check says which one will always be saved over when you "save" with "Apple-S". don't click anything, just let go off of the menu.
  6. click the "Video" menu, but just look: see how the one you're editing has the keyboard shortuct "Apple-4" next to it? That makes it easy to view it!
  7. repeat the following steps as many times as you like
    1. tweak your showscreen (add elements, change text etc)
    2. do "Apple-4" to SEE your showscreen. See it? kJams auto-saves, then shows the showscreen! Sweet huh? now "Apple-4" again to un-show it.
