Hello Al
I have just download the KJams software and from what I see I’m very impressed. However, for some reason the data for the track name and artist do not show no mater what I do. I really don’t what to type in over 1000 of them if I can help it. I am using the lite version and have installed lame. The format of the discs I am trying to import via my external hard drive on my MBA (macbook air) are in CD G. Any help would be much appreciated as I have a party on New Year's Eve and I am expected to make the entertainment!
Paul
Data Tags, No Joy!
Re: Data Tags, No Joy!
Dave
I have just tried what you suggested but no joy I’m sorry to say.
I have ripped a track form a CDG and its gone in to the lib airy ok, but without any information. I have tried to reinterpret but I’m not getting any song/singer or album information showing at all. The CDG that I’m using is a Sing to the World one, just so you know.
Sorry to be a pain but I’m really stuck and I would love to get it working.
As I am able to play the CDG and rip it I assume that my external superdrive is able to read them ok, if not I guess KJams would have told me before.
Regards
Paul

Re: Data Tags, No Joy!
I think you're not understanding how you do it.
DO NOT RIP until AFTER you have gotten the meta data correct ON THE DISC.
https://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Why_meta_before_ripping
please read about meta data here:
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Meta_Info
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Freedb
the gist is: the data is online, it is NEVER part of a CD+G disc. if someone has entered the data into freedb, then it is automatic. or, if it is in KJPro, then you can get it by finding the KJPro disc ID:
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Kjpro
Otherwise you must type it in manually. ONLY AFTER you have the data should you rip. otherwise you will OVERWRITE OTHER SONGS AND LOSE DATA.
If you type it in manualy or get it from KJPro, then please submit to freedb so that others may benefit.

I’m still struggling. I had already tried getting the data before ripping it.
it does seem quite complex, to me.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Data Tags, No Joy!
it's very very simple
1: Stick in your disc
2: did it auto-get the meta data? if so, skip to step 5
3: try to find the disc on KJPro. if found, skip to step 5
4: type all the data in manually
5: rip your disc
do not "try" to get the meta data before ripping, it is a requirement. you MUST get or type the meta data before ripping.

Dave
I stuck in the disc
KJams can see it and lists out the number of track
No data is on the track
I can’t find any of the discs on KJPro
I have tried 10/12 of my discs, some of which are Sing to the World ones which I assume are quite common.
Could it be that my disc drive is not able to read the disc well enough. I’m using an external apple superdrive plugged in via USB to my Mac Book Air.
If its a case of buying a new drive I’m more than happy to do so as I really like your software and would like to get it working.
Thanks

Re: Data Tags, No Joy!
what is the disc number of the STTW disc? i found these:
http://kjpro.com/browse/label.php?Label ... +The+World
if you don't see your disc number there, then it's not there.
no, this has NOTHING to do with whether the drive can read them "good enough" if it can read them, it can read them period. it's about whether someone else in the world has entered the data. if they have not, then YOU have to enter the data. after you do, please submit to freedb so the rest of us can benefit, thanks!

Dave
I think I have sorted it. Looks like a lot of my CDG are not on the online library so I’m putting the info in manually. I will upload when done.
Thanks for your help.
