I have a backup of my kJams folder from my Mac on a Network drive so is there an easy way to copy the music back down to my Windows machine to avoid re-importing and retain the metadata, playlists, etc?

try the NEW new release. note: always look for an update before reporting a problem.
if there is still a problem, please contact me directly so we can figure it out. i can't diagnose the problem on a BBS :)

Is there a NEWer release than what you linked to on your site???? NOTE: There are NO UPDATES for Windows listed on your site. I'm not a newb at this. Since you say you can't diagnose on the BBS, why don't you tell me what other info you'd like??????????????????? I already emailed you through your site (but haven't received a response).

BTW, the lite and pro vesions both crash.

i make new releases sometimes every day. i just made one this morning. when did you download it? release notes are on this page.

what other info i'd like is to see your screen, to do screen sharing, so i can DIRECTLY FIX your problem, which we can only establish if you contact me directly, not on this BBS.

i have in fact responded to you but you have a yahoo address and they block me because they think i'm a spammer. you can help by complaining to yahoo that you're on an OPT-IN list from me and you WANT my emails. i've been negotiating with them for 48 hours with no resolution yet.

meanwhile, can you email me from a different ISP so i can respond to you?

I downloaded it right before I posted here. I can't do screen sharing. Give me your email address and I'll email you from google or something.

Didn't need to try that as I already had those files installed.

Your version 4 actually opened! Although it doesn't save most of the preferences. The 'add to library' only adds one file at a time. There's no way to fix the artists/titles of the songs because the tagging options in preferences don't work (most of it is missing).

Basically, there's nothing you can do except play one song which is just named with the filename...no good artist or title.

This still has a LONG way to go. Don't know if it's a Vista issue or what....

i think you're just not seeing what's actually there.

when you go add to library, pick a folder full of songs. select the folder and press "open" button and it will load the whole folder.

yes lots of the check boxes in the prefs aren't hooked up. i'm doing triage on them as we speak.

if your songs have meta tags, you can "advanced->special->pull meta data" on them and the info will go into the right columns

if not, you can "reinterpret names" to get the data in the right columns, you can do both in batches.
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Reinterpret

what may seem like a "long way" is only less than a month's work. there is in fact enough working now for you to get real work done.

perhaps you didn't see this on the downloads page:
The windows version is "for testing only", do not expect that it will work as awesome as the mac right now, this is the first time i've had it available for outside testing. Please ONLY try it if you're willing to help me debug the problems ;) Be sure to read up on what is still left to do!
just because you don't understand how it works doesn't mean it doesn't work, please take the time to understand and please don't just be a nay-sayer.

Update: new version is out which fixes some bugs
