Importing...

Post by Scott Parr »

Now that my library is already imported/ripped, I have a questions :-)

I imported/ripped all my CD+G discs as Quicktime Movie/Uncompressed in Preferences. 6264 songs come in at ~242GB on my 500GB external hard-drive.

Should I have chosen MPEG-4/AAC BEST???

I went through this forum with search (and by looking at all threads, I could not find this topic even though I'm sure it's out there somewhere).

It would be a pain, but did I make a "mistake"?

Thanks!
Scott

well, presuming you have the desire to save space on your HD, yes you made a mistake. you probably wanted to compress to MP3, rather than leaving your files uncompressed.

quit kjams
install the LAME MP3 plugin http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Lame
run kjams
prefs->importing
pick "lame mp3" for the encoder
now select some songs and go "advanced->convert selection to lame mp3"
or do this for all your songs. it will take a long time.
