Using parents' mac-mini I just need to burn cd-g's
Hi there,
I'm not that well versed in computerdom and wanted to find a program to burn cd-g's to discs that i would download from buykaraokedownloads.com. I don't use my PC at home for internet stuff but my folks have 2 Mac-minis running 10.4.9. I assume that since most burners don't burn CD-G's that the one built into a Mac Mini (MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8124) wouldn't either. I'm not much of a troubleshooter. Any advice for a newbie?
Thanks,
Adam

Re: Idiot using parents' mac-mini just needs to burn cd-g's
just saw an old thread recommending an external Plextor drive for Mac Mini. any technological advances been made since then? glad you're doing this, by the way!!!!
There is a page on the Wiki that gives some advice
http://www.kjams.com/wiki/Compatible_Drives
You can use an internal drive and an adaptor, this seems to be the cheapest way. External drives are hard to find. You may find some old stock on the internet.
The situation is very hit and miss. Not helped by the speed that manufactures change their models. Best to double check any drive by an Email to tech support before you buy.
At some point I intend to have a really good search to find current models that work for sure, I just need to find an idle hour or two.

Mac Mini Combo drive
I've been hoping to get the Matsushita drive in the mini working. I've got Windows Xp on the machine as well and have successfully burned a CD+G CD with Power CD+G from PowerKaraoke. I'm hoping that the Kjams Burner plugin will have it going soon, so I can remove windows from my mini. Anyone have any insight?
:)
please put a CDG in and run kJams then send me the log file. ths will tell me some important info about your CD drive

Mini.
Okay. I'll work on it tonight, and post the log within a couple hours. I can see if I have any type of logging from the windows app as well and post it.
okay
all i need is the bit at the very end, telling of drive capabilities.
i don't need anything from the windows log, that won't help me.

by the way, even if i am able to determine that it is possible to burn on that drive, it will be a very long time until i'm able to write it.

?
it seems to me that the disc was not IN the drive when you sent the log file. that's the critical part. like i said:
run kjams
put any CD in the drive
send the log file
that's it

that's it

according to your log:
Your drive is not claiming to be fully capable of reading CD+G. That means you *may* get some, some times, but it is not guaranteed. kJams at this time can only support drives that has support for CD+G in hardware, sorry.-------------------------------
MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8124
Device does NOT support CD+G
Device does NOT support Deinterleaving
Device supports DVD-ROM
Device supports DVD-R
Device supports CD-RW
Device supports CD-R
Device supports CD-ROM
