Suppress Song Title in "Who's Singing Next:" Overlay/Crawl

My apologies if this had been answered a million times, but if it has my search-fu is failing me.

A lot of singers like to keep their next song a surprise. Rickrolling aside, I'm generally in favor of singers maintaining something of a mystique about their performances. Is there a way to keep the names of the singers in the the crawl and the "Who's Singing Next:" screen, but remove the title of their songs?

it's not really well documented.

help->reveal prefs
quit kjams
open "kjams prefs.plist"
find this line:

<key>Messenger Rotation Template</key>
<string>[nick]: [name]</string>

change the 2nd line to this:

<string>[nick]</string>

save, close
run kjams.

note that if you do this, then it won't work EXCEPT in the Rotation playlist. if you use a regular playlist, then it will fail.

That takes care of the crawl, but the "Who's Singing Next:" screen still lists the song titles. Can I edit that in a template somewhere as well?

okay fine, you have to be a TECHNICAL user or a programmer type of person to get into editing the xml files directly, so i don't recommend it.

Just saying, it might be more practical than paying $1000 for a machine just to edit your rotation screen!

well the one i talked about was relatively easy. the one requested was relatively difficult.

Wouldn't removing the tag for [name] be relatively easy, however?

he's talking about editing the Rotation ShowScreen, which is non trivial and i'm not going to really want to walk anyone thru it. but i'm willing to walk people thru using Producer to do it.

Yes, but wouldn't removing the tag from the ShowScreen XML remove the instance on the ShowScreen? I haven't done it that way in awhile, but I am pretty sure I didn't run into too many issues. (Though that could just be my faulty memory.)

there are several places where you must do it and if you get any of them wrong it will just totally break the showscreen.
