secret prefs

Post by Brendan »

I downloaded secret pref. I see it in system preferences but when i click the icon i get "the application system preferences quit unexpectedly" error box ! Gives me the option to reopen, close or report. Any advice? Tried to reopen but nothing. i uninstalled secret pref and loaded again but this didnt help. :cry:

well , this does not help me because i have no idea what i'm doing :oops: . I want to be able to show results while typing in the search bar. Can i use the previous version for a while until this pref is back? If not, i will just have to live with it.

the previous version has bad bugs. the new version does not yet even allow this secret pref. there will be a new release next week that allows for it. after that, you'll have to study that link i sent and edit your prefs file, it's really not that hard.

Okay, i will try it, please bear with me. To clarify, am i understanding you correctly that i do not need the secret prefs? i am not able to open this. I did find the preferences.plist file and can open it using text editor. What do i do from there? Will you tell me what i need to edit in there once next weeks version of Kjams is released? -Thank you

you do not need the "Secrets" system pref panel.

after the next release, just open the plist with a text editor
look for:

<key>Update search results while typing</key>
<false/>

change it to:

<key>Update search results while typing</key>
<true/>
