Feel free to post bug reports here. I need exact, detailed steps showing me how I can re-create the bug on my machine, so give as much info and detail as possible.

First search takes forever

Post by Sedge »

Well, not forever. I just tried it, and it took roughly ten minutes. :?

So, steps to reproduce:
Open kJams
(task window empty)
type in search phrase (I just used Power Of Love for my 10 minute search)
wait. (task window shows Filtering, progress bar moving very slowly. All other program UI is frozen. However, web controls work!)
Wait.
Wait.
eventually, search completes. (10 minutes!)
Any subsequent search performs normally, within a couple seconds or less.

Update search results as you type & Diactric insensitive searching are unchecked.

I'm guessing this has to do with some kind of corruption in my database file, not an actual program error. Still, it's annoying. I think it's been this way for a couple weeks - at first I wrote it off to having my Library sorted by SongID, so it would have started roughly the time I was messing around with making song books.

Library is currently at just shy of 23k songs.

Got it. Had "Publisher" column included on Library view. I do use this meta, and want to keep it updated, especially when adding new songs, but I think I can compromise and only have that column switched on in sub-playlists. (Or, just be aware that I have to cache it at the beginning when doing my weekly batches of adds)

Back to normal.
Now, more than ever, eagerly awaiting mySQL backend.
