Graphics in Producer screens broken

Post by Sedge »

Basically says it - it appears you moved some of the graphics from /Resources/ to /Resources/pictures/ , notably the iJams logo and the Betty Boop waitress clipart. I've already fixed mine, minor effort in Producer to do so, but others may not be so lucky, and may not have a working knowledge of Producer, just using the pre-made screens. Not sure which if any other graphics are affected (probably safe to bet anything being used from that pictures folder).

go to your kjams preferences folder and delete the producer templates folder. if you have any of your own custom ones in there, move them to the desktop first.

then run. a new folder will be created. now add back your custom templates.

Thanks for that - hope it helps others. In my case, that wouldn't have worked because I have re-designed the Rotation and Message templates, as well as adding a "next singer" to some of the others (iJams, Tip your Waitress, Message) - so it was easier to just re-link the graphics.

yeah, while in development things are sometimes in flux. this sort of change won't happen after the 1.0 release.

plus when i add new templates they will be copied into the folder even if it already exists.

Fair enough. I'm enjoying contributing to the "development" phase of this software.
Quick question - should I then be backing up the XMLs for my custom rotation/message screens, etc, in case they get overwritten by a new release?

they should never be overwritten, but backups are always recommended

Dave,

I experienced problems with my rotation screen after the last update. It showed only the next singer/song in all six slots.

So, I checked the forums and did as you advised here (deleted producer templates) and restarted kJams.

This rotation is now back to normal, but now, upon restarting kJams the kJams 'menu bar' (File/Edit/Controls, etc) disappears as soon as my library loads. I have no access to any menu bar commands and my only option is to Force Quit. Re-running kJams now gets the same result-- no menu bar-- every time. Also, I just noticed when kJams is the active window, my dock disappears as well though it is set to always be visible. If I click a finder window (or any other app) the dock and menu bars reappear). Go back to Kjams and they disappear again.

Is there something I can do to get back to a normal startup?

I don't think this is related to the latest release but maybe producer???

It happened once before and as with this time, I was in producer looking at the rotation template (before I read the forums!). I think I closed the main template window (via red x) and when going back to kJams, this same behavior started. I just restored kJams from a backup and it fixed the problem. But, I have sinced added new songs and I am hoping there is something simple I can do. Any help is appreciated.

Running on new MBPro, 4MB ram, 5600 song library locally stored

UPDATE: Reading the forums, I found a post from Dave saying Command-0 works to bring it back and that did work. Sorry for the post. But, I can say that both times this happened to me, I was in producer and closed a window to get this behavior.

yeah, command zero

i've never seen this bug myself or i'd fix it.

if you can make a list of steps that i can follow to make it happen, i could fix it.

in the future, please start a new thread when you have a new topic

Sorry, just started here because I lost my rotation screen. I was able to duplicate the disappearing menu bar and I will start a new thread. Thanks, Dave.
