esellerate issue with purchase

Post by jmaler »

Hi Dave -

I just discovered your software - and I'm really impressed! I used to work in Silicon Valley in software and I know how much work goes into producing a viable product. Nice job for a one-man show!

Last night on a whim I decided to get a very-last-minute karaoke system together for my kids for "new years eve". Luckily I found your product and your software was the hit of the party

I wanted to purchase the "lite" version however when I try this process:

Help -> Purchase -> get the "are you sure" warning message -> click "agree" -> get the "warning" window about a "receipt window" -> click "OK" ... I get

"unable to install eSellerate engine"

Tried to update the software - am running v 1.0d50 - and the system says it's the latest and greatest.

I also noticed that the software runs with the title "kjams: no esellerate engine" at the top of the window.

I imagine esellerate is causing you a lot of trouble... I hope you can work it out. Still, it's a great product and I'd like to pay you...

this is likely a permissions problem.

go to /Library/Frameworks/ and make sure you have write permissions for that folder (get info on that folder, reveal "sharing and permissions", click the little lock, enter your PW, then set "everyone" to "read and write"

also, for completeness, delete anything inside that folder that says "esellerate" or "EWSMac"

Now run kJams and you should be good to go.

Thanks Dave. It worked. I'm now registered and you've been paid $40. Thanks again for a very cool product.

Thanks for the great customer service

Dave, thanks for helping me resolve the esellerate problem. I'm impressed that you called me (twice) to help sort it all out.

That's great customer service, and I appreciate it.

There's no way big software companies would do that in this day and age. While I imagine it can be hard - as one guy - to keep in direct contact with your growing customer base, I think it's a real competitive advantage for you! Keep it up and I'm sure you'll keep that business growing.

Happy new year!
John
