Hi, I'm looking into buying KJams, I currently use a Karaoke program on a PC, Yeah I know, I wasn't aware of this program then.
I have Thousands of CD+G tracks on an External Hard drive, How can we go about importing these to KJams, Will it be as easy as it seems?
and they are either saved as Zip Files (will Stuffit open these) or saved as seperate audio files and Graphic files that are linked accordingly. Will KJams play these?
I hope u can help get me set up as soon as possible as I am very excited about being able to set up karaoke on my Powerbook.

So I just purchased and downloaded a couple tracks from TriceraSoft as a test. Now I want to import them into KJams. I actually already did that but now I want to know if I can get them organized?
Based on the directions in the Wiki this is what I understand...
1) kJams will not move the tracks on the hard drive when I choose "Add to Library", like iTunes "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library".
2) I can not place zip files into the kJams music folder and then import them.
So I have to stick them somewhere outside the kJams music folder and kJams will always look for them in that spot. Is there a way I could get them into the kJams music folder today or if I put them elsewhere will a future version of kJams be able to collect them and move them into the kJams music folder in the future?

correct, correct and yes.
in 2 you mention zip files but it applies to any media files. kJams owns the music folder, so if you put stuff in there kJams won't see it (unless you've done it perfectly correctly AND you rebuild your library from scratch).
In the current version, as long as kJams is running you can actually move the files around or rename them, as long as they stay on the same volume. But after that you MUST cause kJams to re-save the database (it won't know you've touched the files). To do that just pick any song and change it's name to eg: add a "z" to the end. then you'll see a little red dot in the "close box" of the main window indicating that kJams now knows the database must be saved. now quick: change that name back (remove the "z"), kJams will then automatically save your DB.
so given the above you *could* move the files into the music folder while kJams is running, but i've not tried this and can't guarantee it at the moment.
rest assured there is a "consolidate library" function coming soon, plus a "copy into library when adding" option in the import process. not to mention a "keep library folder organized" function
