Lower Thirds Added

Is kJams missing a feature you need? Post it here! Note: if iTunes has it but kJams doesn't, it's a good bet kJams will have it, but that I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But go ahead and request it anyway!

Yes, but just shrink the screen (no need to change wording)

Lower Thirds Added

Post by cooldjmac »

Would love to see the screen shrink at the end of a song to display the next singer with song they are singing.

This would make it easier to read for the audience (and the KJ as well if we aren't at our laptop).

I would like to see for example:
Next up, {Singer} singing {Song Title} by {Artist}, After we have {Next Singer} singing {Song Title} by {Artist}.

I was just noticing that yesterday... the scrolling words were interfering with the lyrics at the end of the song.

I'm thinking of just turning the feature off anyway, because it seems at the really great shows, the host is interacting with the audience ... calling up the next singer is the minimum amount you can do along those lines. If the rotation is long and you want to keep it moving, it's easy to say "Mike c'mon up. Joe, you're next" and the audience really appreciates it -- people love to hear their name over a PA system

But then again, I have gray hair. (old-fashioned)

No real opinion on this one. The consensus for my audience has been that they don't particularly think having the text on an audience-viewable screen is a positive thing. Now, if I was able to somehow post the whole rotation on a third video output from the laptop...they'd probably like to be able to monitor the rotation itself so they knew where they were. I'm not sure I really want everyone knowing what everyone else is going to sing. I don't want everyone clearing out just because they know Bohemian Rhapsody or any Celine Dion is being sung next. :)

In my experience people like to see if they are coming up next simply because they may have to run to the rest room or order a beer at the bar or go rehearse out back, I dunno.

I still announce them over the mic (its our job) but running with announcements on the screen versus not, I noticed the rotation runs smoother with and I believe its mainly because the audience is ready because they know when they are up next.

Also, some karaoke clubs I go to, it is very difficult to understand the KJ announcing who's next or they don't have there sound turned up loud enough to over power the crowd.

I suppose to each there own, but I like taking out the guess work and confusion by using the "Who's up Next" across the screen and just wish the screen would shrink a bit to allow this text to be more visable to the audience and not interfere with possible lyrics still going on.

The scrolling text across the bottom IS VERY COOL LOOKING but only does its job if people are watching at the exact right moment.

I like the 3rd screen option, except I'm pretty sure you can't do that on *most* Macs, especially the low- to mid-priced ones.

How about this: a full-screen list of "next 3 singers" (without song titles) during the pause between songs

(BTW, this may eliminate the long-standing bug of the mess of text on the KJ's screen near the top of the window)
