How to get echo

Whats the best way to sing online with echo. Do i need to hook up my powered mics with echo control? Does my imac have echo or reverb? I currently have a P.A with my laptop but sometimes ill sing on my imac, would like to avaoid hooking up a piece of hardware. Maybe garage band?- Thanks
