broken HDD / song locations

Post by cstanyer »

My HDD broke last week, I purchased a new one and have copied all the kjams tracks from my backup disc to the new HDD and named the HDD the same as the old one. When I open kJams it doesn't find the tracks and prompts me to find them - I obviously haven't quite made an exact replica of my previous HDD. How can I tell where kJams is looking for a track so I can make sure my path matches what it did previously? In itunes when you 'get info' on a track it tells you it's location. Can I do something similar in kJams?

Ok, I have the same path name and it still doesn't know where the song is?

i'm fairly confident there's something missing in the path. or perhaps the new drive is "case sensitive" ?

I have to go and set up for tonights karaoke, using the back up gear, now.

Could it be the format of the drive? I've formatted this one as MAC OS Extended (journaled). The previous one worked out of the box, I don't know what format it was.

When it asked if I wanted to locate the file myself, I did, and now it finds all the tracks!

itunes is being a *&%$£$@£ though.

Dave - when's the best time to catch you online? I've just been signed in for a while but there's no sign of you.

Here's a screen shot showing the location that kjams thinks the track is in and, on the left, the information relating to the physical mp3 track which shows the location being the same? I'm confused as a lot of the tracks seem to work but some don't?
