Erratic Synch Slipping

Post by franks »

I seem to run into an "out of synch" problem quite often when I select a different non-sequential song from within or from a different playlist.

This can be quite disconcerting and sometimes embarassing.

note, I have preferences set:
pause after each track
stop at end of playlist
video window above all system windows
bring video to front automatically
pre-cache next song

Global synch & individual song synch are set to "no slip"

Is there a recommended selection/start sequence or Preference setting that guarantees a true no slip on startup of another song from different playlists or from a different position in the same playlist?

Note, my type of performances often use different playlists.

Also note that if I start songs in sequence there is generally no problem. But when I jump around in the playlist or go to another play list is when the problem occurs. I just can't "double click" on a different song with out encountering this out-of-synch problem.

My current work around is to "Stop"(+period) between tracks, select different song, bring Video screen to front(this seems absolutely necessary to do), then hit "Play" to start song.

Any comments or advice?

it is supposed to "just work" always.

if it does not work no matter what you do, then there is a bug. i certainly wouldn't design it to only work IF you do several steps in a specific order.

i'll be looking into performance stuff next week. meanwhile, try turning off "pre-cache" and see if that helps?

Dave:
I have noticed this as well. Started in the latest version (or two). I will examine further.

yes, please do let me know your findings. narrowing it down to minimum steps really helps.

Since Dave fixed my "file export" problem, it SEEMS that the synch slip was resolved too.

My confidence is shaky on this so I will monitor my selections to confirm that synch slip does not reappear.
