Problem reading NTFS only on 1 computer

Post by BoostLee »

I have an external drive loaded with karaoke songs in NTFS format. I realize that kjams does not read NTFS. So I installed Paragon NTFS for my MacBook pro and Voila!, I'm able to add to the library no problem and works great. This works fine for my MacBook and my girlfriends MacBook. But for some strange reason, does not work on my buddies MacBook. We have the same OSX version and all, but kjams continues to say that it can not access the drive because it's in NTFS. But what's stranger is that we can copy an entire karaoke folder onto the desktop and adds to the kjams library fine. I checked the format of the copied folder and it says it's in NTFS. Can someone help please.

stop using NTFS, I do not support it even if you install Paragon or whatnot. Just reformat to HFS+.

Will formatting to fat32 work? Or does it have to be hsf+? After formatting can I just copy the files from a NTFS formatted drive?

FAT is better but WHY? is there some reason?

if you're on a mac, you'll get WAY better performance using HFS+

if you're sharing between mac and windows, you are asking for trouble.

Um, maybe a stupid question, but does your friend actually have Paragon (or its equivalent) installed on HIS machine? For it to allow writing to an NTFS volume, it (or a similar program like macFUSE) NEEDS to be on every machine that accesses the drive.
The rest is not weird, because OSX has read support for NTFS built it, so it will read files from the drive to copy to your mac desktop just fine, no matter what machine the drive is connected to.

I can't support Paragon as an option for writing to NTFS. I've tried it and had enough problems with it that it's just not an option. If you use Paragon or MacFUSE or whatever, and i see that you're doing that, and you're having file-related problems, then i won't give you tech support.
