the "Newness" of You...

Post by OLDERBLUE »

Hello Mr. Dave...
I am getting ready to purchase Kjams Pro, program for my iMac . The computer is about 5 months old, so I probably am equipped with the latest innovation required by Kjams. I am a simple minded man in using the computer, so I might need a bit of help making this work to my needs. I suppose I will start by going to your sight to purchase and install this program, so that will be the way to start this, right? ok Good. I will do that. Now first question I have is this. In my iTunes Library I already have many Karaoke songs that I purchased and downloaded directly from Karaoke Version, iTunes Store and Amazon. Will all these songs be readily usable for application to my new Kjams program? Will I just be dragging those to Kjams and will the words be available to me in Karaoke form (as I have so far just been using those as "sound only" by plugging into my mixer and sound system)..? or is this a question to be asked after I have installed Kjams.? BTW.. I am a single act and not particularily needing instructions on adapting to add "Other Singers" I Thank you now for your help and for a short while I will be counting on any help you can give me to end up with what I really need to augment my performing.

Okay, i don't mean to scare you away, but you should be aware that kJams is "development level" software. that means you kindof should be computer literate to use it, that there will be crashing bugs and asserts, failures, possible loss of data etc. It's very solid right now but sometimes i add new features which cause problems, which are then fixed. if you are easily frustrated or have high expectations of pure awesome with no down time, think carefully about whether you are ready for this. I can't do the hand holding thing for total beginners, i kindof need you to take on learning as much about kJams that you can by yourself, by reading all the forums, and the wiki pages.

But I will ALWAYS help, so if you have a question i am happy to help or point you in the right direction. tech support is currently free and unlimited. see the disclaimers on the downloads page for more info.

you can also post your questions on the forum if you are sure the answers will benefit other users. tech support requests, on the other hand, should just go to an email to me.

On to your questions: iTunes does not sell karaoke. sorry you've been duped. you can add them to kJams but they won't play with lyrics, so it's no help. the ones you bought directly from KV will work however. the ones from amazon i don't know, haven't tried. you'll just have to see.

yes, to get them into kJams, just drag and drop.

What are you talking about, Dave. I know you keep saying that, but most of us here will attest that in general use, kJams is more than great! :) Your "development level" is most other companies' Gold Master Release!

If anyone needs beginner hand holding, just refer them to one of us here, I am sure we can step up to the plate.

That said, although the iTunes files ARE without lyrics, the CD+G files CAN be found. ;)

Well, the Windows version isn't up to the Mac in terms of stability, speed and smoothness. And sometimes i DO introduce crashing bugs, which some people just aren't ready for. Yes, the mac version is really rock solid in practice most of the time, but i want to set the expectation a little lower than what I can actually deliver, if you know what i'm saying.
