I am totally new to kJams and am hopeful that I will be able to use my really old CDG discs in Virtual DJ by using kJams.
But, the first disc I put in my Mac with kJams showed text that is in a foreign language. Here is an example.
"1 Elinor Ethnix and Eyal Golan Hamofa Hameshutaf 4:44"
I have no idea what's going on except to think that the disc info is being confused with something else and whatever that something else is, is what is getting imported into kJams for the track info.
The disc is JVC CD+G Karaoke Top Hits 16 Vol 1, ACDG-1001
Can anyone direct me to what I am doing wrong?
Song Nmae, Artist, Album in a foreign language, not English

you're getting the data from freedb, which is the wrong data.
try getting it from KJPro

Re: Song Nmae, Artist, Album in a foreign language, not Engl
Thanks.
Not very intuitive. I figured I pop in a disc and it would come back with the right tracks. Didn't realize I had to go to a website, search for and figure out what the CD Title is and then go back to the program and enter that info and then get the track info.
Live and learn.

Re: Song Nmae, Artist, Album in a foreign language, not Engl
you're misunderstanding reality here, this is not something that can easily be automated.
when you stick in a disc, kJams asks freedb for the data on that disc, given a hash value that will "ID" the disc. the problem is, when whoever came up with that hash value, they did a pretty poor job at it. so the ID ends up colliding with other discs. when more than one disc has the same ID, kJams will put up a dialog asking you to pick which one you want to use. if there is only one entry for that ID, kjams will just use it. if it's wrong you can always fix it later, and is right 90% of the time. so, rather than annoying you 100% of the time (asking if it's right even if there's only one entry), kJams opts to annoy you 10% of the time (for the times, like this, where there is only one entry and it's the wrong one).
Now, you have the opportunity to fix this problem for this disc from now on for all future users of kJams (and freedb). Once you get the right info from KJPro, submit it to freedb. Then, when someone else in the world inserts the same disc, they'll get a dialog asking them to pick which disc it REALLY is.
more info on freedb here.

That's kind of what I thought. And I agree that being annoyed only 10% of the time is preferable to being annoyed 100% of the time.
I just hope that the rest of my discs are recognized at a higher percentage.
Thanks for clarifying.
