Video Backdrop Generator is here!

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Video Backdrop Generator is here!

Post by DeusExMachina »

By (very) popular demand! After way more effort than should have been necessary, the much requested video background service is DONE!
Follow the directions at the link below to set it up to display still photos, motion video, or even a slideshow built from any folder of picture files you select.

(You will need to download Quicktime Player 7 (not QuickTime Player X) if you do not have it installed already.)

If you find this useful, let me know here.
If it fills you with so much overwhelming gratitude that you just have to express yourself more formally, I would not be offended by a little PayPal love at:

That is an Apple bug, known to Dave and me. We suspect it has something to do with how Apple treats graphic page sizes on screens larger than 720p. What resolution is your display?

right, you can set your display to 720 or even 480 and you won't get flicker. setting it to larger won't get you any benefit unless you also show true HD (1080) videos between songs.

And even then, only if your display is larger than 55" or your viewers have their faces pressed to the screen.

Does that mean it is now working flicker-free?

i think he's asking: "if your screen is set to 720 or 480, is it flicker free?" and i think the answer would be YES but can you confirm?

Yeah, my display is set at 1920x1200  It stopped when i adjusted the video screen by grabbing the edge. I also tried adjusting to 720, it stopped flickering but the video window is stretched out. Cant see the full text.I will play with it when i have it on my big screen and find the best setting.

i mean, set the actual TV resolution to 720p (in the Display System Prefs), that means 720pix vertically, then just go "full screen" on the TV and all will be well.

Instead of doing it that way, go to the displays preference pane and set the resolution from there. You can then just set kJams to full screen, and the images should size better.
You could even do that automatically with some additional script code, and then set it back to your optimal resolution when you quit kJams. Maybe I should add that to my kJams launcher script.

Yup, i did that in the preferences. It does work great once i hit the little green x on the kjams video window! Nice job, now i just need some cool videos. How about "Worlds dumbest criminals" :P or Girls Gone Wild :) Thank you!

to go full screen you want to double click in the video window. zooming the window (green dot) does not remove the title bar.
