SD Card support?

Post by gsteffens »

Can kJams import the karaoke songs from an SD card just like it does a CDG or SCDG?

In short: yes BUT read on for caveats:

kJams does not COPY files, it references them in place. That means, if you do "add to library" on a song, that the next time you want to play that song, the file MUST be in the same place it was when you added it to the library. Get it? If you eject that SD card, the file is no longer there. so the song won't play.

this also won't work:
add a song from your desktop, then throw out the file.
add a song from your friend's hard drive, then your friend takes her drive home.
add a song from the downloads folder, then clean out the downloads folder.

what you need to do:
copy the files you want to keep forever into their OWN folder (not the kJams Music folder), then add THAT to the library.

Thanks for the explanation. I assumed that the file format on the SD card was similar to the CDG/SCDG format but didn't want to buy one and find out it wouldn't work with kJams. I still think I prefer the disc import method where you stick in a CDG/SCDG and kJams will import the songs into it's own music folder as opposed to the insert SD card/File Copy to Local Permanent Folder/Add to Library method. The end result is still the same but are there any sound quality or disk space advantages that I'm overlooking with kJams CDG import vs. Add to Library?
