Cannot get Kjams Pro to run

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Cannot get Kjams Pro to run

Post by [email protected] »

I downloaded the Kjams Pro to evaluate before buying but I just cannot get it to run. I have an Intel Macbook with 4gb ram running the latest version of Snow Leopard. I have downloaded the app, put it into my applications folder and there is an icon in my dock. When I click on the icon, my screen flashes like it is going to load but nothing happens. It just will not run. Any ideas. I have uninstalled it a few times, removing everything relating to Kjams and have tried to reinstall but it just will not load.

HELP please!!!!

check the LOG file
http://www.kjams.com/wiki/Logs

i suspect you are crashing due to an incompatible QuickTime codec

if the logs show the failure happening during initialization of quicktime, you can manually remove the offending codec to get running

if this is too confusing for you just send me the log file

well that's exactly as i suspected. whatever qt codec is loading after AIFF is causing your crash. remove it and you'll be fine

actually, you're on a very old version of kJams. update to latest and you may solve the problem too.

actually please send it to me so i can make sure kJams does not crash on it.

you'll find them in /Library/QuickTime/, /System/Library/QuickTime/ and /Users/<you>/Library/QuickTime/

you're still crashing on whatever codec is loading AFTER the AIFF codec.

your Flip4Mac is out of date. update to latest.

I have just fixed kJams to warn you of this situation, rather than crash you with no clue.

dude, i totally can't help you if you're running an old version of kJams. please delete ALL copies of kJams from your hard drive and external drives, and go to the downloads page and get the latest one, or get the pre-alpha, which i would prefer, from the bottom of this page:

History 1.0d51: Latest Changes

FYI: there is no such thing as "installing" or "uninstalling" a drag-and-drop application. kJams is a drag-and-drop app, to "install" it you download and unzip it. to "uninstall" it, you drag it to the trash. knowing this, you should be aware that "uninstall-reinstall" will do exactly nothing but waste your time, doing so can only provide a placebo effect, since there are no "hooks" into your system like "actual installer" installed apps can create.

When i say uninstall i mean drag to trash and delete all related files. When you say i have old software, I am downloading using the link off the site.
