webcam compatability
webcam compatability
I'm thinking of buying a USB webcam for the video underlay function. Is there anyone who's used a webcam for this that can recommend an external one?
Also - if I plug in a USB cam, how will kJams know to use that one and not the one built in to my MBP?
Thanks,
Chris.

Re: webcam compatability
it uses the "default" one which i think is the last one plugged in
Re: webcam compatability
Cool, I'm going to borrow an isight and see if I can get it working, will look awesome on the big screen, just hope it doesn't confuse the singers on the small screen.
Can you rig up more than one second screen? At the moment I have one output split to two screens, a big screen for the punters and a small screen for the singers. Would be good to have two screens showing different things and be able to have the video underlay on the big screen and intersperse it with the rotations during instrumentals etc. I don't think the Mac can do three screens though can it?

Re: webcam compatability
the mac can do as many screens as you have video cards. the powerbooks effectively have two video cards, but you can add more via USB, see the FAQ.
but kJams currently has only one video screen (and one "artwork" panel for the KJ)
one day i would like to make a full on video mixer, but not today.

The iSight should work fine, I didn't have to do anything to switch from the internal camera to the external as far as kJams goes. I did buy iGlasses to help me fix some exposure problems. But for most situations it should be fine.

I bought a cheap cam from Maplin (it's the X6Cam Duo2 by Plus) which works fine. The video underlay is a fantastic feature and went down really well on Friday, I did turn it on mid-song for one of our regular singers and it threw him a bit. Luckily he's a good sport and found it amusing that he was thrown on to the big screen in front of everyone.

Wait, what?!?I did buy iGlasses to help me fix some exposure problems. But for most situations it should be fine.
How did you get iGlasses to work with kJams. Dave and I both have been beating our heads up against that particular wall for almost a year, and have been totally blown off by eCamm.
Re: webcam compatability
i'd like to know the answer too
Re: webcam compatability
Apologies...I do use iGlasses, but not technically within kJams. When I was streaming the whole show to LiveVideo and LiveStream it was useful, but that was Flash in a browser, not kJams.
