Basic questions I didn't find an answer for

Just talk about kJams stuff with each other, describe things you did that worked, talk about your setup, anything that doesn't fit into the other forums!

Basic questions I didn't find an answer for

Post by djdave »

Thanks in advance. I just got my Macbook Pro and downloaded the trial Kjams pro. So far so good, just a few questions.
1.When I insert a disc, it opens I-Tunes, can I shut that off?
2.My built in drive is HL-DT-ST-DVDRW GS23N. It says it won't work, try anyway, and it appears to work fine, both with playback and 3 song burns to my hard drive.
Will this drive correct bad discs, and can I turn off the warning/try anyway message?
3.is one database better then any other?
4. How do I adjust the quality/bits per sec. of my rips. With external hard drives so cheap, i think the highest quality burns may be the way to go.
5. Does anyone recommend a specific laptop/mixer case/
Thanks again,
DJDave

Thanks in advance.
You're welcome, in advance.
1.When I insert a disc, it opens I-Tunes, can I shut that off?
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Ripping
look under "details"
2.My built in drive is HL-DT-ST-DVDRW GS23N. It says it won't work, try anyway, and it appears to work fine
then you're all set!
both with playback and 3 song burns to my hard drive.
please understand the words you are using:
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Glossary
i think you mean "rip"?
Will this drive correct bad discs
in fact it will. it fixes "glitchy" graphics and creates more pristine discs. see:
http://karaoke.kjams.com/wiki/Compare
and can I turn off the warning/try anyway message?
just check the "don't warn me again" check box
3.is one database better then any other?
I presume you mean the online MetaData databases. KJPro™ is the best one. but first try the other three.
4. How do I adjust the quality/bits per sec. of my rips.

5. Does anyone recommend a specific laptop/mixer case
MacBook Pro with utterly maxed ram. I got a Motu UltraLite and it rocks.

Thanks for the quick response, and the heads-up on the Motu.
I was wondering about a protective case for my gear that offers a good workspace and ease of set-up and breakdown.

I use cases from Gator, and a laptop stand from Stanton.
