Post by jdrmm8400 »

My external video screen is flipping back and forth especially when I roll my mouse over the rotation or library window. HELP!

I had this problem too, with the release before the current one (I haven't downloaded the newest release yet) - but it seemed to be related to issues I was having with the 'Take Pictures' option - I think if I restarted kJams and left the Take Pictures option alone, it stopped the flippy screens.

What it didn't stop was potentially more disturbing - all my template screens seem to have been reoriented a bit higher, as if the absolute zero had been changed somewhat, perhaps about the value of a line of text. At my last gig I was unable to use my custom rotation screen, and instead had to use some custom 'next singer' screens that didn't have anything displayed at the top of the screen.

I'm reasonably confident that simply removing my custom screens and letting kJams re-create the standard ones may solve the issue, but that won't fix the time I put into producing custom screens. So, Dave, if you know where this went sideways, and can point me to the approximate XML that needs to be changed, it would be helpful - as well as a little warning if such things are going to be affected in a new release.

all that *should* be fixed by the latest version. please test with latest and see. you should not have to re-create your templates, the old ones should work fine. please report back.

Dont know if this is related but i have been experiencing flickering in the rotation screen between songs. The Kjams logo is jumping around.

Dave-I have version r35 - the newest version correct? I have tried to restart KJams, the Macbook Pro I have, changed the video outputs to trouble shoot and still the flickering and flipping when I click in the body of KJams. What else can I do?

Thanks

and you're saying this happens when you're not touching the "take photos" feature at all?

well, you *could* fix it this way:

in the finder, go to your home folder, the one with the picture of the house
in there, go to Library, then to Preferecnes, then to kJams
in there look for "kJams Preferences.plist", double click it
do a command F (search) for "core", you'll see these lines:

<key>Use CoreGraphics</key>
<true/>

set them to look like this: (2nd line to FALSE)

<key>Use CoreGraphics</key>
<false/>

Thanks Dave. That worked. BTW, I haven't touched the "Take photos feature" in quite some time. :D

Confirmed that I too do not have to click on 'Take Photos' to replicate bug - screen flips lyrics upside down on mouseover of playlist items, menu items, possibly other things. No effect on screens such as rotation, etc; just lyrics.

Also confirmed that editing the Use CoreGraphics key to false fixes the flipping graphics, and also fixes my screen orientation issue.

There's something fishy about these CoreGraphics, Dave.

r35 is apparently the current (latest) public release. r36 has been referenced in the changelog, but appears to have either not been released, or been pulled due to known crashers/severe bugs.

well this is what i get for not having dedicated beta testers. i fixed these bugs last week but only now do i find out that the fix never got posted. i'm completely baffled by that. sorry.

so yeah, r37 WILL be posted tomorrow, and you can go back to using core graphics if you like after that.
