Exporting as Quicktime

Post by Karanight »

I've recently put new tracks in my library and because I will want the tracks as quicktime tracks in the future I exported them as Quicktime instead of ripping them. kJams plays them without any problems. Am I storing up problems for the future doing this or can I do this with all new tracks.

I exported them as Quicktime instead of ripping them
that doesn't make sense. please consult the glossary regarding "ripping"

If you convert all your Audio+G files to QuickTime, you'll never be able to burn a CD+G disc. Also, they take up more room than the Audio+G, also, they lose quality unless you only ever use Animation video compressor with the Lossless audio compressor. In general, you want to keep your files in the original format, which lets you export to QT or burn to disc or burn to DVD in high quality at any time. if however you commit to a particular quicktime format and trash your original files, you lose the ability to convert to other formats in the future or burn CD+G discs.

Sorry, I was being flippant with "Not storing up problems for the future then"
You did answer my query.

Sorry I didn't explain myself correctly, what I wanted to know was will I have problems in the future if I have kJams read from m4v files instead of a zipped CDG file.

The problem of not being able to convert to other formats or burn a CDG isn't a problem because if I needed to do that I still have the original disc.
