Jerky Playback

Post by pommybloke »

Hi,

I have had my Mac offline for a while importing some new songs.

I connected it up and got a couple of updates (to kJams Lite) over the past couple of weeks.

I have now connected my Mac upto my monitor and tried it out last night. I now seem to be getting jerky playback of the backing tracks.

I have tested ones that I know were working perfectly before I tookk the Mac offline about a week and a half ago and they are also jerking during playback.

I dont have anything else running on my Mac so there shouldnt be anything interferring with the process.

Is there an issue with one of the last couple of updates?

Thanks,
Paul.

I have a Mac Mini, PPC 1.25ghz with 2gb RAM.

I currently have about 4000 songs.

They are all Audio+G.

are you going full screen? even so, playback should be smooth, even if it's 15fps. or: how large is your screen? is it like a Cinema display or HDTV?

and does it stutter? or just run at a slow FPS?

you should try to get me on ichat so i can see this. i hope you're on 10.5 or 10.6
i will be phasing out support for 10.4

Yes I am using full screen.

Im connected to a 32inch LCD TV, not HD.

Im running Leopard 10.5.

It is the music track that is stuttering.

OK, I have isolated the problem.

I have the settings set up to auto full screen the song after selection.
Whenever I use this setting is when the stuttering occurs.

If I turn this feature off, and then when the song starts maximise the window, the track plays perfectly.

So it is definately the auto full screen setting that is causing the stuttering issue.

that just seems so random!

you're saying it's not the video that is stuttering, it's the *audio* playback that is stuttering???

i really want to see this, can you please get me on iChat?

Sorry havent been on for a while, been busy.

Im in Australia so quite difficult to get on due to the time difference.

Also, the Mac Mini isnt connected to the internet where it is at the moment, but could try using my 3G modem.

Will try and log in when I can and see if we can sort it out.

well what i want to do is screen sharing which is excruciating via 3G and from Seattle to Australia will likely go via satellite which makes it even worse.

well, let's give it a shot, see what happens.
