Yet another request - Messages UI

Is kJams missing a feature you need? Post it here! Note: if iTunes has it but kJams doesn't, it's a good bet kJams will have it, but that I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But go ahead and request it anyway!

Yet another request - Messages UI

Post by Sedge »

Dave, you've got a great thing started with the scrolling Messages at the bottom of the screen.

However, I've got a couple of requests (or thoughts on making them better)

1. Control of font/color/alpha for messages. Currently they seem to be a white outline font at less than 100% alpha - 50% at a guess. This works OK on flat panels and smaller screens, but on the projectors and big screens I use, it's barely readable. Some of that is likely due to imperfect color settings on my TV scan converter, but still... the signal for the smaller flat panels goes through the same scan converter, and looks OK. If I could muss around with color/font/alpha options, I'm sure I can find something that works better. I'm thinking secret prefs here, for now.

2. using an actual dedicated scroll bar area at the bottom of the screen. Not sure exactly what they call this, but when a news alert goes along the bottom of your TV screen, often the rest of the screen is squished up a little bit to make room for it, and it's in its own little box. If there was a way to do similar, squishing the standard 300x216 up just enough to leave you a scroll bar area at the bottom, for however long it's on, then there would be no way the message text could float over the lyrics (which it has done often enough to make me wary)

I've turned off the Message features for now, because of the text floating over lyrics, which makes them look just screwy enough (especially on the big screens and projectors) to be annoying. Hopefully your next cut at this will improve things.
