Disk tracks list in iTunes

Is kJams missing a feature you need? Post it here! Note: if iTunes has it but kJams doesn't, it's a good bet kJams will have it, but that I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But go ahead and request it anyway!

Disk tracks list in iTunes

Post by artguy »

Is there a way to get iTunes to recognize the name of a disk and its tracks after the information has been entered in kJams? I am talking about custom, not commercial disks. This would also be useful for CDpedia. Thanks.

From iTunes (actually the Finder) kJams will pull out the disc name and the track names, but not the artist info.

So... logically, it would make sense to enter the track names in iTunes first, assuming one wants the disk information for both programs...

yes i think so. can iTunes pull info from CDPedia? if so, you should put it there first, then both programs can pull from it.

It does not appear that iTunes can read from CDpedia. However, if the disk is in the drive and iTunes is open when CDpedia is also open, there is a "Get iTunes CD info" option under the last menu option. It doesn't have a name, just an icon that I can't make out, but it is to the right of "Help".

It works.

Of course, the information has to be filled out in iTunes first.

So, to recap, fill in the information in iTunes first and kJams and CDpedia can both retrieve it from there, or at least a good portion of it. No doubt I could have tested all this out on my own first, but maybe another member will find the information useful.

complete recap:

1: fill out info in iTunes
2: run CDPedia and pull info from iTunes (be sure to get track numbers too!)
3: export CDPedia Library file to your kJams folder
4: run kJams: it "just works" :D

note: not tested, let me know how it goes!
