I purchased Kjams Lite in 2008 and you helped me get an import issue corrected. I have downloaded and installed the most recent full release and it seems to be working fine. However, I was hoping you could give some tips on properly managing my library.
I read the "Moving files cleanly ...." post and it helped, but it didn't mention any details about songs purchased from Tricerasoft from within Kjams. Maybe I just need to clear my kjams database and re-import. Not a problem, but where should I be looking for the tricerasoft downloads? Are they linked special to the database?
I was having import issues, so I only imported the songs need for my Halloween party. This was a mixture of both Karaoke and regular iTunes tracks. However, it was only a portion of each. About 200 total. I later downloaded several songs from TriceraSoft using the interface within Kjams. With the stable release out, I want to redo my library to include all my Karaoke songs (approx. 650) and possibly my iTunes (approx 2000) . I want to include some meta-data to help me identify and sort Karaoke tracks from the iTunes tracks. I don't want to lose any of my added songs, licensing info, etc. However, I don't want to import over the top of existing library and have duplicates. I want to move the entire Karaoke Library to an external hard-drive to help prevent data loss and free some space on my internal drive.
I believe a complete library over-haul is probably necessary, so given the above information how would you suggest I proceed?
Thanks
Overhaul Kjams database without losing songs?
Re: Overhaul Kjams database without losing songs?
They are treated the same as Rips. Rips (and purchases) are stored in the "kJams Music" folder. Files in this folder will automatically be re-imported when you rebuild your library from scratch. All other files you'll have to do "add to library" again to get them back.details about songs purchased from Tricerasoft from within Kjams.
i think starting from scratch is what you want.
0: trash the "kJams Library" folder
1: move the entire "kJams" folder to your external drive. also copy all your karaoke to that drive, TO IT'S OWN FOLDER, and you know why too because you read the above link right?
2: delete it from your internal
3: make an alias that points to your external "kJams" folder, and copy it to your internal, in place of the original, real folder, so it *seems* like it's all in the exact same place in the internal drive
4: run. it should auto-import all your rips and purchases
5: add to library everything else
