Hello All,
Really excited about this program, looking forward to downloading it!
I'm a Mac guy who is stuck using a windows program for karaoke.
I already have all the equipment for playing gigs and have a G4, sitting, waiting to be dedicated to the shows.
On the "windows" system i have 40,000 karaoke songs on the hard drive and need some advice on how to move them to the Mac in preparation to using Kjams.
I don't know much about "windows", I use that machine for karaoke only.
Any help and advice will be appreciated so I can make the switch soon!
Can't wait to make the move!!!
Thanks,
Tim
Moving songs from "windows" to Mac
:)
okay, this is wicked complicated, so put on your thinking cap:
1) plug your windows drive into your mac -> the icon shows up on the desktop
2) in the finder, locate the root folder of your music
3) drag that folder onto the kJams icon
WHEW!! Man, why's it have to be so complicated!!!

<clarity>i'm being silly, just so you know</clarity>
okay maybe there's a bit more to it: if that drive is formatted "NTFS", you'll have to reformat it "FAT32" (if you want to keep using it on windows) or "HFS+Journaled (case *INsensitive*)" (if you plan to only ever use it with your mac). To reformat you'll need another drive of similar capacity, you copy everything to it (drag and drop), then reformat, then copy it back.
then there's the "reinterpret names" phase, where you glean / extract all the meta data into the correct columns, usually all the data just lands in the "song name" field, but with a few clicks you can sort everything out in one fell swoop. email me directly if you need more info.
