SILENT AUDIO?

Post by Gary Reed »

After the first song plays I get no audio, then I get a loud dose of static this has gone on all day. I have restarted kjams and rebooted my mac but to no avail even after my tenth try. I just got a message that stated "you may get silent audio, stop song and clear cache then try again if the problem persists turn off skip silence at start of song".
1. how do I clear a cache and what is a cache? (I know I suffer from chronic NOOB disease.)
2. I have looked everywhere and have not been able to locate the "skip silence at start of song" feature.
3. What could cause the loud static to emit and how can I make sure it does not happen at a gig?
Thanks for your help ahead of time.

I may be a noob but when I find something I like I will not quit till I get it figured out.
I had to go in and change the audio settings in k-jams (how did they get switched) and clear the cache, (still have no idea why I have to do that) but it all works fine eventhough I am not exactly sure what I did that magically fixed it, but anyway it's all new to me so I'll keep working on it.

this is a long standing bug. the reason it is not fixed is because, tho i have had numerous reports of it, i have NEVER gotten a user who experiences this problem to actually sit down and figure out how to reproduce it.

you should all know by now "I CAN NOT FIX A BUG THAT I CAN NOT SEE". I do not experience this bug on my computers. And i have like five of them. I've scoured the code visually and can find no problems. What i need in order to fix this bug is excruciatingly detailed step by step instructions on HOW i can reproduce this bug such that it happens 100% of the time. Unless somebody is willing to take the time to make these bug-reproduction instructions (repro steps), i will NOT be able to fix this bug.

Please, if you can consistently run into this bug, pretty please, take a few minutes and write me up a list of steps i can take such that I can see the bug on my system.

what are your prefs?
what song does it fail on?
internal / external drive?
ripped or added music?
music format?
how much ram?
how many songs in library?

i need to know everything. thanks.
