mp4 Video output is shakey/unsmooth

Post by cosmik »

I copied the ffmeg file to the right place (root) but all my videos play sturdy/shakey, as if my imac is to slow... but in VLC player it's ok.
What is the best video file format for kjams to play? MOV, MPG, MP4, AVI?
in what resolution? or is this an issue that can be helped easily?

All help appreciated!

Mike

well the BEST is Audio+G.

are you on an intel or PPC? what speed CPU? how much RAM?

movie playback is NOT optimized right now, so you may only get 20FPS or so, it is especially bad at flull screen.

i will eventually optimize it for smooth playback at any size.

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz
Memory: 4 GB

Ok! I see....been playing around with a whole set of new codecs and all, and tried everything, but now I understand! :P

I'd like to start my Karaoke show with a 5 min. video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLABCoFNJHo

which I have on original DVD. I converted it to a mp4 with 29.970 Framesrate. but since 20 Fps is kjams limit, it's a bit shakey.. But it'll do!
Or I will use VLC in fullscreen for the beginning...

Thanks for helping me out! without this info, I would have search for other reasons for hours & hours....

Question answered:-)

Mike out.

20fps is not a limit, it's just what my computer can get at full screen for videos since i'm not using QuickTime to do the playback. i will be switching to quicktime to get full OpenGL goodness and 30fps even at full screen, just haven't got around to it yet.

you could try to reencode the movie at 24fps, and at 320x240, with CinePak encoding, that would help i bet.
