I have version 1.0d49r26 on my mac and when I check for updates I am told I have the latest version.
Last night I was given a track and no matter how I tried to play it, the following message popped up.
This database was saved with a newer kJams, which writes database format (1.10), which is, unfortunately, greater what this version can read (1.9). You must upgrade to a later version.
I have had this message earlier in the week but i can't remember why.

Tell the truth or lose the horse
???
you played a *track*???
you can't possibly get that message when playing a track. you can only get that message when you start up the application. r25 can read and write version 1.10, and so can r26.
are you saying you're getting this message on STARTUP?

??
i need to see this in action.
the code that puts up that error message is no where NEAR the code that plays tracks, they're not even remotely related.
are you available tomorrow?

I am available but I am unable to recreate.
Thinking about it now I closed kJams because it froze when I tried to play the track, whilst kjams was closed I double clicked the track on my HD and kJams opened and that must be when I got the message. At this point kjams froze and I used force quit, I did this a few times to try to get the track to play. I then decided that I would have sort the problem out at home.
When at home and I finally got the track to play, it was completely out of sinc so I thought the track was bad. Now having tried to recreate the impossible the track plays perfectly.
I'm sorry to have put you to any worry, but, you have to remember that when I had the problem I was at a very busy karaoke Saturday night (and hot I might add) and I've only remembered now because I tried to recreate it.
The night before I had a strange thing happen to my laptop and I don't know if that has anything to do with the problems I'm having right now.
The problem I had was:- I looked away from the screen and when I looked back the screen looked like confetti, I couldn't see any windows open or icons, just confetti. I had to press the off button to shut down and then start again.
I've since put an antivirus on but it found no virus

that makes perfect sense now.I closed kJams ... whilst kjams was closed I double clicked the track on my HD and kJams opened and that [is] when I got the message
I think you have more than one copy of kJams on your hard drive. Never do that. if you NEED to do that, compress (zip) all but one. that way ONLY the one you MEAN will launch when you double click a song in the finder. this will also prevent you from accidentally running 2 copies simultaneously, which will delete the entire internet and your house.
confetti is an OpenGL problem. can happen with 2nd Life or Google Earth or any other full screen OpenGL program.
