I was just having a look at the kJams Wiki and I noticed for the first time that Dave plans to include iTunes integration. For me this is a fantastic feature, it would be seriously useful. As a singing teacher the simple ability to search for and pitch shift original artist material would be a real boon.
I then got to wondering, just how much of an "i" application will kJams become?
Will it integrate with iPhoto? So that slideshows of images can be played when the karaoke is not running?
Will it integrate with iMovie so that movies can be run when the karaoke is not running?
Will it integrate with Numbers? So that karaoke spreadsheets can be templated?
Will it integrate with iBartender and get me a pint when I need one?
Just what will the near future hold for kJams?

"I" am that i am
yes, you'll be able to bring in photos, movies, audio etc from your other iApps and make movies. *one day*. handy for segue graphics or ads for "tip your waitress" etc
it already integrates with Numbers and/or Excel or any spreadsheet or database app that produces CSV files, so you can use them to store meta info for your songs, all via CDPedia:

the iBartender feature will have to wait for 2.0

key change original artist material
Cat,
in the meantime, you can drag original songs to the kJams window and pitch-bend to your heart's desire!
BTW, Apple AudioUnit (in kJams prefs) does pitch bending with far less distortion on some songs. I have not had a crash one time, and I use it ALL THE TIME (my voice is not suitable for most rock and pop songs -- Bass, am I, so always pitch bending down)
-Randy <-- proud contributor to fine-tuning the AU pitch bending in kJams. It was a wee tiny TINY amount of effort. About as small as those MISSING CAR KEYS
All I did was play with some settings in AU Lab, but I'm still proud of it

yup it's true! the nitty gritty of all the settings used in the pitch bender were set by RandyJ. i could not figure out what sounded best, they all sounded the same to me
but Randy set me straight with a group of settings that are just perfect, and that's what kJams uses!
Many thanks to RandyJ!

silent burned tracks with AU pitch bend
Caveat to folks wanting to burn a CD with pitch-bent songs... using the Apple AudioUnit pitch bending can burn a random silent track when burning a CD
I burn to a CD-RW and then test it. If it's ok, burn again to CD-R (kJams uses the same disc image you just burned to CD-RW... from the cache). If you got a silent track, clear the cache (in kJams preferences) and repeat
...assuming the disc burning glitch is still there. I haven't tested it in months.
But for just playing music in kJams, I have never had it crash with AU pitch bending.
