I'm looking fot an external cdg burner/player for my Mac. The compatibility list says the HP dvd1040e will work but on the box of the drive it say its only compatible for Windows? Does this work with Mac?
marginalized
if it says it is compatible on THIS web site, then it is.
remember: 90% of the world does not even know that macintosh exists, do not be dismayed that they are unaware of us. do not be mislead by their insistence that there is no such thing as mac.

Thanks Dave, i am new to the Mac world myself. I got fed up with Windows and took the dive. I love your software, i will be purchasing it as soon as i get my drive. Thanks for the support during my transition into the Mac world.
Thanks again! Brendan

I just purchased the HPDVD1040e and it works, i was a little nervous about buying it, but you were right! I performed a test burn on two songs, i can play it back in Kjams but when i try to play it in my Karaoke component player it says "No disk" Do i need to change the format when i burn or is it the cheap karaoke player?
should work
burn on CD-R, not CD-RW
do not use color discs
if it still does not work, please test two more hardware players before blaming the disc burner.
if it is the burner, i need to know so i can warn people.

yes on the mac a CD pretends to contain AIFF files
there are some burners which create CD audio discs that play in computers but NOT in real hardware. These are the impostors IMHO and must be weeded out from the herd. or something.

Okay, so you think it could be my Drive? Are you confident i did everything right? I know someone else in the forums purchased this drive. I can't find the post now. I would like to contact him to see if he has the same problem. Anyone know who this is? I will report back if this CD does not work on another player. Thanks
:)
yes it *could* be your drive but at this point it could be your hardware player, so we need more info.
I played the cd on a friends machine, It works! but the video is not great. Hard to read some of the text and part of the sound was distorted. When i got home , i tried to burn another test but it did not play on my machine either, it says "No disc" When i burn, i place two songs in a folder and go to flie/burn playlist. Is this the right way?
Cheers

By "folder" you must mean "playlist" right? yes that's the right way. i'm beginning to suspect your burner. The video should come out PERFECT (if the original plays perfect), and the audio should as well. always.
