CDG Authoring Tools

CDG Authoring Tools

Post by edernest »

I'm looking for an app for the Mac that would allow me to create MP3+CDG files from an audio disk or standard audio MP3. So far I've ran across TunePrompter from Griffin http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tuneprompter, and at first use it seemed like a fun, well made app. TunePrompter falls short in these ways:

-Only exports Quicktime movies, no CDG+MP3
-Doesn't attempt to silence vocals
-Doesn't seem to support multiple colors, used in songs with duets

TunePrompter seems like a good app, especially since it's 1.0 and especially since it's free. But I'm looking for a bit more and since Griffin seems to be developing this software to work with the iKaraoke (iPod karaoke accessory), I don't think I'll see these features in this software in the future. Are there any other CDG authoring tools for the Mac?

I have searched high and low for CDG creation tools for the mac. There are none, so i wrote my own.

Your best bet is to keep pestering me to finish kJams Producer.

Producer will (in the future) read LRC files and TunePrompter files, and will produce real CDG discs.

let me know if you want to play with it, it's pretty rough at the moment. Plus you will need a Pro license for it to work for you.

Consider yourself pestered

I've been happy with kJams, so I'll be glad to see what you can come up with for CDG production. Unfortunately, I only have the Lite version of the software or I would try it out. Will kJams Producer be a separately purchased module or part of the Pro license when it's complete?

I have made several instrumental/karaoke songs, and to my ear they sound just as good as anything made by Sound Choice or Sunfly or PHM. If someone really really really really wants a particular song that just is not made by anyone, perhaps I could be persuaded to fire up Logic and give it a go.

You can get Producer right now. It's a $70 plugin. It can import TunePrompter, LRC, Enhanced LRC, and SingStar files. You can change colors of text sweeps easily. Plus a buncha other things.

Check it out.

I will eventually write my own text-syncer so you won't need TunePrompter. I will allow multiple tracks (for duets eg) with separate syncing for each track (so you can have 2 people singing *at the same time*.

The unregistered version is *fully functional* except for burning discs, which gives you red x's in your graphics. If you don't want to burn discs, it does everything you want. Give it a whirl.

But I CAN make fully-functioning .cdg files?

Oh, but I have to upgrade to Pro first, right?
