Problem getting Apple Remote to work

Post by edernest »

This may be something simple, but I've not been able to get the Apple Remote for my Mac Mini to do anything when I have kJams loaded. The documentation suggests that it "just works", and I haven't found any pref to enable it, so what am I doing wrong? The remote otherwise functions normally (controls Front Row when kJams is not loaded).

I have no idea. I just tested it and it works fine.
Do you have a song selected before you press the play button?

Still no luck

Yes, I've tried it with a song selected and with a song playing, I can't get any of the buttons on the remote to do anything. The strange thing is, while the app is running, I can't even use the Menu button on the remote to get to Front Row. If I quit the app, I can access Front Row by pressing Menu on the remote.

As I stated, the remote otherwise works fine, for example, in Front Row and in other third party apps. Anyone else have this problem?

Well i'm utterly mystified by that.
please send me a system profiler report, we'll see if we can get to the bottom of it! :)

note: it's normal for the remote to NOT respond to front row while kJams is in the front. after all, you're supposed to be controlling kJams, not Front Row, at that time.

Sent you the profile report

Okay, I just emailed you the report. Thanks for looking into this.

In the interest of troubleshooting, I installed the app temporarily on my MacBook, and had the same results (remote doesn't do anything).

I'm happy to report that the Apple Remote works properly in Leopard now after the update you released today. Thanks for your efforts, Dave!
