Push Meta Que / Renaming zips

I have a pretty large database. is it normal that it's taken 3 days for these files to rename/tag? There are 33k files on an i5 MacBook Pro w/4GB Ram. Would more RAM speed this up? I have another 112k to go...it will never finish before my gig this weekend...

i'd expect 33k songs to take several hours, maybe ten hours, but 3 days does seem excessive. more ram would not necessarily speed things up but i'd still recommend you get maybe 8 gigs (note kjams will only use 4 of that but then you'll have room for the OS and other apps at the same time).

also, 145k karaoke songs is way overkill, you don't really need 6 versions of Love Shack, just sayin'.

Dave, I've been a KJ for the better part of 25 years. You "collect" a lot of things along the way. I am in the process of weeding out the "walmart" discs...I have MANY songs I've created over the years, and many that lots of my friends have created that are just not available anywhere. I also have several hundred songs from karaoke version...

Back to the slow queue...I do not have anything else running on this machine. it's a new Macbook Pro. Any suggestions? It seems to take a few hours per thousand...where from your last post, it should do a few thousand per hour?

yeah then there's something wiggy for sure. is the drive where your files are a USB drive?

Yes the drive is USB

that could be the bottleneck right there. you should get a firwire 800 or better yet get a thunderbolt drive.
