Library

Post by edbronson »

New problem discovered, when the audience search from the phone app kJams cue, the results do not appear on the phone app, it appears in the library on the KJ computer, and when this happens the library gets locked up at that search, to clear it you have to initiate a local search then clear the search box.

MacOS Sonoma v14.5

yes, this is an issue. it is one of my top priorities. i'm really sorry about this!
for now, i think i recommend just stop using the server. i know that is a major hassle, but i plan to work on it over the next month or 2. i'm out this next week (june 5-17) but will start looking at it when i get back. note it won't be a quick fix, and again i'm really sorry about this!!!!

I'm still experiencing this bug, and it makes the application fairly unusable. I have no written catalog, and managing request slips is a huge step back.

i hear you. i've been working on keeping the kJams.com web site server working (software updates), and also the build servers (there are several), and in the background working on Producer. I realize i need to switch gears and fix the kJams Cue server (the one built into kJams).

blog post:
One very sad thing is i left my one and only work laptop on top of my car. As i'm driving i hear these loud bumps on my roof and look in the mirror just in time to see my poor baby flip off the car and smash on to the road behind me. So THAT is a thing. it is limping along for now, but i'm waiting 'till next month when the M4 MacBook comes out. My work is slower due to that cuz i can no longer travel with my busted laptop.

Short story is THIS BUG is what i will work on starting now. So sorry it's taking so long. No news on timeline other than "bear with me for at least another month".

We look forward to the resolution of this issue. We still use a previous version of the 32bit on an older MacBook Pro and several older iPads for our live shows. It is solid. We have a test bed running Pro Mac x.1b82 64bit at home. We know we'll have to make the transition to a new computer sooner or later!

How are kJam hosts managing w/o kJams Cue working?

Best,
Mark & Anita

i look forward to the resolution too. i have one engineer who knows about the SQLite database stuff (he wrote it).
his current task is to fix the problem of "sometimes search doesn't show something that is obviously right there". once he fixes that, his next task is to fix THIS problem. you can track this issue here:
https://trello.com/c/jFr3c3Mu

as you can see it is "on deck" as the VERY next task.

i'm so sorry it's taken me so long to get this resolved. kJams has been out of money for a long time, and i'm scraping together some savings to put into a budget to keep this engineer employed to fix these bugs!!!

Thanks so much for the update Dave! It is a sobering read. We'll keep our monthly subscription going for as long as we keep our couple of gigs going. From what I've seen at other venues, kJams still has the simplest and cleanest interface with the ability to play external files.
All the best!
cheers,

We just reread the post and was slightly horrified that we didn't mention how sorry we were to hear the news of your Mac bouncing off the road. Ouch! Brings back the memory we had when Anita's open coffee cup decided to slop some caffeine through the only area the keyboard cover, well, didn't cover -- the wide horizontal gap formed by the screen hinge. Yup. Didn't like that. The battery, SSD & memory upgrade was still good tho. Cha-ching!

Yes I agree, KJams is the best out there, I wouldn't change it for the world.

As far as we are concerned, kJams is the only hosting software worth running. So there!
