I have been stuck with an audio drop out or stuttering on my setup. iMac 27" Lots of ram and HD space. The Audio is only on playing of Kjams mp3+g zip karaoke files. I changed mixers and still get this and don't know what is causing it. All other audio programs play flawlessly just Kjams causes these stutters and appears to be out of sync too? Not sure I need to check that more deeply. Any ideas? Thanks KJAMS LITE USER since 2010. Also I changed my external drive for my karaoke zips from usb to firewire and the problem is still apparent. Same Storage area never changed it. Firewire 800mbs on iMac to 400mbs to mixer then out of the mixer to WD Karaoke external firewire 400mbs Don't think this is causing the trouble. I even created a new user logon with bare bones loading. Thanks DJ Styles
Also I noticed when things are silent and Kjams is loaded, I can hear intermittent clicks very quiet and mild in the background. These are related to the audio sputters when a track plays. I can get the problem to go away when I reboot sometimes.
Audio Stuttering on imac Firewire comes and goes?
Re: Audio Stuttering on imac Firewire comes and goes?
are you on a PowerPC mac or intel? or Windows?
are you selecting your audio out from the System Prefs or from kJams Audio prefs?
as an aside, are you running public performance shows? or are they all private home parties?

Re: Audio Stuttering on imac Firewire comes and goes?
I've experienced similiar problems when running an audio i/o and hard drive off the same firewire port (ie one passing through the other in series).
My solution was to move the karoake files to a usb drive.

I may be mistaken, but don't I/O devices use less bandwidth than your song database? I'd keep the Karaoke files on a FW800 drive and use a USB I/O...like a Numark DJ I/O or something similar...
Thanks!

I'd recommend firewire audio myself, or just the headphone jack
