OK, finally back to where I was when I noted the problem. Wow - big headache. Now, back to the quest for perfect Metadata - kind of starting over, since I apparently have 4,000 songs that weren't loaded prior. One really super nice feature for this program would be one that could scan a user-determined location for 'orphaned' songs other than in the actual kJams Music folder - This would make adding songs a bit easier too - just drop them where they belong, then run a single command to scan and add tracks, without having to fear having multiple library entries for one track. Of course, once the database conversion is done...

that's a LOT harder than it seems. imagine for each song you want to import it has to try to match it against each and every song in your 100,000 song library. way you're importing 10,000 songs, that would be 1,000,000,000,000 file-path comparisons. that would take forever. i think my approach above would cut your mustard

what the plan has been since the beginning is that "add to library" can just copy your files into place, getting them all snuggy right in your library folder for you.

Oh, I like that approach too. It might be a little rough for those who have external hard drives, but at the end of the day, since that kJams Music folder can exist anywhere, as long as it is available every time you want to run kJams, it will make for a better system. I let iTunes do the same, although I was pretty leery of it at first (and rightly so - it copies the file, and if the meta data isn't right, it renames the file so that you have no clue by filename or path what it could be) but overall, it's been a very convenient system.
