At the time i bought the external drive, i thought i read somewhere in the forum that ANY light Scribe drive will work. The last burn i performed burned all eleven songs successfully none of which were pitch bent. Did the log file show this? Did i just get lucky ? I will try a couple more burns with no pitch bending to see if i can burn successfully again. Is it possible this drive will only burn with no pitch bending? If so, i can live with that because it is too late to return it

i am telling you pitch bending has absolutely NOTHING to do with burning. you're seeing a mirage when you see a correlation.
so are you saying that this "HL-DT-ST GE20LU10" is in fact a LightScribe drive?
if so, sorry about that, but it ain't one of the compatible drives, period. don't bother trying to making it work, because it won't work. (it *may* work depending on the phase of the moon but there is no guarantee at all with that particular model)
