Recommendation for CD+G Ripper?

I have information overload when going through the listing of what works and what doesn't work when ripping CD+G disks. I have a Intel MacBook running Leopard. Has anyone else found a ripping solution from and external drive (either USB or Firewire 400)? I have tried to look up information on several drives, but get overwhelmed. If someone is using an Intel Mac running Leopard and have found a solution...and better yet...know if it is still out there available for purchase, please share!

I think this software is the solution we have been looking for! I just can't rip our CD+G collection into kJams at this point. Any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Just get a LightScribe drive.

I wanted to thank Dave for all of his help! I ended up getting a Lite-On EZ-DUB. I have now successfully ripped all of my CD+G collection into my kJams. (Well, there is one disk which wasn't recognized, which is strange. It still works in the Karaoke machine, but isn't readable by my computer.)

Anyway, A HUGE thank-you to Dave for being willing to walk me through the process and answer my questions. What wonderful support!

My family is enjoying kJams immensely! THANK YOU!

I must have gotten lucky. Although I have 3 Macs (PowerMac, iBook and new MacBook Pro) as well as an external Plextor FW/USB drive I bought specifically for CDG ripping and burning, the first time I tried it on my new MB Pro it worked perfectly, despite the warning that the "drive reported it was not compatible".

avoid USB if you can, get FireWire

I have that Plextor USB/FW combo I bought long ago for this very purpose, but I was just commenting if it was strange for my new MB Pro to work for ripping CDG's. I haven't tried all yet and there has bee a case where if there was a scratch or blemish it would render the error message that my drive is not compatible and stop ripping, but usually that was remedied with a quick disk cleaning.

BTW, one reason I got the MacBook Pro was my refusal to give up FireWire, Apple's own creation!

Yes, it is unusual for your MBP to be able to read CD+G, you're one of the lucky ones with the HL-DT-ST drives. What model, exactly?

The one in my signature here: 15.4" 2.53 GHz unibody, 4 GB RAM, 512 MB VRAM NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT, etc.

Just bought LG GE20 at Best Buy for $80 and it works. USB 2.0.

I'm shopping for a new MacBook Pro.
Do all the new ones have the HL-DT-ST drives now?
When I bought my current one, I went with the cheaper MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-857D.
I guess if I had went with the "Super Drive", it would have worked for CD-G

edit update:
Just saw this
HL-DT-ST DVD-RW. (Hitachi/LG drives. DT is for DaTa, ST is for STorage) Models confirmed working are GWA-4080M. Some MacBookPro's have these built in!! Warning: GSA-S10N can read but fails burning viable discs. GE20-LU10 can read but apparently only burns 2 tracks and fails after that. (check the MBPro BEFORE you buy so you know, it's rather random which drive you'll get if you just order the MBPro online)

Is that up to date?
