Neat But...

Is kJams missing a feature you need? Post it here! Note: if iTunes has it but kJams doesn't, it's a good bet kJams will have it, but that I just haven't gotten around to it yet. But go ahead and request it anyway!

Neat But...

I have a macbook w/1gb of memory. with the video rolling, it slows the words down to the point that they don't roll across the screen with the tempo of the music. Is there any way to turn the video feature off? I do like the take photo feature itself, but just for that, taking snapshots.

sorry i don't know what you mean. when you say "video rolling" do you mean you're playing an MP3+G? Or are you playing an MPEG? or playing a QuickTime Movie? Or playing directly from a CD+G disc? Or do you mean the video camera is turned on ("take photos")? It is literally impossible for the lyrics "sweep" to go "too slow", if the computer can't keep up, it skips frames, it does not "slow down". Please describe exactly what you mean.

playing mp3+g
click take photo
words come up on the screen
as the lyrics start, the highlight over the words on the screen starts skipping so that it doesn't highlight the words in tempo with the song. Would definitely make it extremely difficult for someone who is not familar with a song to keep up with the lyrics.

I see. Well, i made it very clear that this is a "hack" feature, that it sucks, and that it produces an extremely low frame rate. It's there just for kicks, you're not expected to be using it in a show unless you have like a Quad 5GHz intel or something. I'll get around to doing all the video processing in OpenGL eventually but for now it's just a "demo".

your first question was "how do i turn it off", well the answer is don't turn it on in the first place. :) Or, just pick "Take Photos" from the file menu again to toggle it off.

What you're seeing is an extremely slow frame rate due to a slow computer. Just don't use it if your computer is too slow.

Click here for a happy experience.
