Burning: same CD-Burner drive works on old mac, fails on new mac?

This is more of a MBP problem.
I've use a Samsung ex-drive with my main work MBP, a 2014 running Sierra, it has burned and played many CDG's , no problem.
Just got a 2015 MBP, Same Sierra, migrated everything over to it. It runs Kjams just fine. All Burn attempts failed, each attempt failed at different times, once almost finished, most didn't. Tried both USB's. same thing. The USB's work fine with ex-hard drives and thumbs.
Took the drive back to my 2014, burned the same 10 songs, no problem.
Anything obvious I should try?

what version of kJams on each computer? the exact same version?

you're saying you're using the same external CD-Burner drive?

Yes, The same Kjams (and everything else) migrated via Time Machine.
Same 6 year old $80 Samsung disk drive that works fine on the 2014., "almost works" on the 2015 I just got.

i'm asking exactly what version of kJams you have on each computer.

also: are you burning Audio+G files? no other file type?
are you using premium CD-R discs?

Please try all the troubleshooting steps.
