A new macbook

Post by djdave »

I'm trying to hook up my new macbook to an external monitor tv. I'm using the same connections as my old mac, but only getting my desktop to display. The lyrics show up on my new mac screen but nothing on the tv. I went thru the setup instructions on the faq page, but there seem to be some differences in the display options.
What am I not doing?
Thanks

when you say "nothing" do you mean "only the desktop picture" or do you literally mean "nothing" as in "black screen" ?
if the former, drag the Video window over there and double click in it
if the latter, you have a connection problem (cable? tv off? mac not detecting the display?)

It is displaying my desktop. When I hook everything to my old mac, all is well and good.
It's just the new one that I can't get a lyric display for.
I'll try double clicking and see if that works.
BTW, I don't see a "detect displays" button anywhere on the new mac screen.

if you see the desktop picture on your TV, that means it's hooked up correctly. see the link about arrangement. you HAVE to drag the video window OVER to the TV. did you do that?
