How to tell if my CD drive will work for rip/burn?

I'm new to computers.
How do I know if I have a CD+G capable reader/writer?
I use Mac OS 10.3.9
LaCie d2 CD/DVD U&I Drive
Toast 6 Titanium

First, your computer must run MacOS 10.4 at least. but even that is TEN years old at this point. If you can, get a new computer that can run the latest OS.

then, to see if your drive will work for ripping, stick in a disc and press play.
to see if it will burn, try to burn a disc.
