Apple TV remote controller

I can use the apple remote control to go forward/backwards on tracks, increase/decrease the volume, press MENU to go in and out of full screen
But the PLAY PAUSE button doesnt do anything. Should I be able to press it to pause a track? Pressing Space on the keyboard pauses the track
The remote works fine on apple tv.

mmm, yes that should work.
what version of MacOS are you on? i'll have to update for it...
