Of greater concern, a bug experienced by a number of people, myself included, in coreaudiod, is causing sound to be completely inaccessible. Clicking the speaker icon on the menu bar woks, but there is no response from the OS. Accessing via System Preferences lets you set the correct output and input sources, but still no audio. Some people have had some success with a trip to Terminal and a forced killing of all coreaudiod threads, but so far, the only sure fire method, and the only thing that has worked for me, is a complete hard restart.
(That and Mail hangs all the time. And it's ugly. And not very friendly for the visually impaired.)
BOOOO Apple.
Yosemite: no audio?
