I think I screwed up my data

Post by demiurg »

I installed and bought the lite version, had tons of fun, added a ton of songs

Then I was wondering if I could automate adding songs, as the laptop had to be close to my tv and it was hard to add songs, sitting on the floor, during a party

I found out about v2 so wanted to try that out.

I installed it, but it installed over my v1 lite installation

I re-installed v1, but now I am getting an error every time on start up about "new singer" and the application seems more crash prone now

I could start over my catalog, but I did a bunch of manual renaming, so would really like to avoid that

So my questions are
1) How can I fix my v2 induced mess
2) How can i make the manual renaming permanent or save it somehow
3) Is there any automation possible with the lite version?

I was wondering if I could automate adding songs ... during a party
that's not how it's designed to work. the point is you add all your songs ahead of time. they should all already be in your library. You can purchase or stream songs from a music store during a live show, but it's a real bad idea to be "adding to library" during a show. do all that ahead of time.
now I am getting [a warning] every time on start up about "new singer"
just delete the "venues" folder in your "kJams Library" folder
the application seems more crash prone
you'll have to be very specific about that for me to help
How can i make the manual renaming permanent
it already is permanent, as long as kjams has write access to your music files, the data is written directly to the files
Is there any automation possible with the lite version
only on mac, and only a very tiny bit using AppleScript. the real automation (Python) is only available in "kJams 2"

Sorry, for the confusion, with "adding songs" I meant, "adding to the selected songs queue".

Thanks for the other answers, will try to delete the venues folder and see how it performs from then on.

sorry but i still don't know what you mean. do you just mean "adding songs to a playlist" ?

i think what you need is definitely "kJams Pro" or "kJams 2"

then you can use an iPad or other iOS device, or even another computer (just a web browser), to manage the singers and songs for them.
